WrestleMania IX was the ninth annual WrestleMania professional wrestling pay-per-view event from the World Wrestling Federation. The commentators for the event were Jim Ross, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.
WrestleMania IX was built around two main storylines: the unstoppable Yokozuna challenging Bret Hart for the WWF Championship; a right he earned by winning the 1993 Royal Rumble, the first man to win a WrestleMania title shot at the Royal Rumble (although, Hulk Hogan had won the 1991 Royal Rumble and went onto face Sgt. Slaughter at WrestleMania VII, his title shot was not granted because of his victory); and the return of Hulk Hogan, who had departed the WWF following
WrestleMania VIII, teaming up with Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, to take on the WWF World Tag Team Champions, Money Inc. (Ted DiBiase and Irwin R. Shyster).
In the years following the event, WrestleMania IX began to garner a bad rap. Many blame the lack of any real "WrestleMania-caliber"
matches on the card, while others cite Hulk Hogan's surprise winning of the WWF Championship as a major detriment to the event.
However, others consider WrestleMania IX to be full of interesting plot twists and intriguing commentary courtesy of Ross,
Savage and Heenan.
