WRESTLEMANIA XI FACTS

WHAT TOOK PLACE AT WRESTLEMANIA XI

WrestleMania XI, was the eleventh annual WrestleMania pay-per-view event held by the World Wrestling Federation in Hartford, Connecticut on April 2, 1995. The event was covered by most major U.S. media outlets due to the involvement of NFL linebacker Lawrence Taylor. The event was commentated by Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler.

Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow

.

  • Lawrence Taylor defeated Bam Bam Bigelow (w/Ted DiBiase)(11:42)
    • LT pinned Bigelow after a shoulder tackle.
  • Was later broadcasted as a one hour special on the Fox Network in the fall of 1995. It featured the Diesel vs. Shawn Michaels match, and Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow match.
  • This is the first WrestleMania featuring the striped referee shirts. All previous WrestleMania events had the referees wearing button-up shirts and bow-ties.
  • Due to a production foul-up, one of the WrestleMania ring aprons did not get shipped to the Hartford Civic Center. As a result, the standard blue "WWF logo" ring apron had to be used on the blind-side of the camera. (It is visible most notably when Shawn Michaels leads Jenny McCarthy around the ring.)
  • This is the first World Wrestling Federation pay-per-view to use the "WWF New Generation" logo as the logo at the bottom of the screen
